The Analysis of Aircraft Mishap in Air Force

Abstract
Worldwide number of aircraft mishaps reduced compared with those estimated in the past. Aircraft mishap of Korean Air Force occurred steadily. Enormous efforts have been made to prevent the aircraft mishap, since it could result in tremendous human and economic losses. But there were few reports about current aircraft mishaps, this study was designed to investigate and analyze the patterns of aircraft mishaps in Air Force for last 20 years. Aircraft crash cases including fatal cases happened from 1993 to 2012 were investigated on a internet portals. Data on date, time, the rank of killed pilots, and the type of aircraft were collected. Total 40 fatal cases were selected and 43 pilots were killed for 20 years. There were 23 captains which was the most frequent rank among killed pilots and were 12 F-5s that was the most common aircraft type. Relatively, 7 cases occurred at between 11 o"clock and 12 o"clock and between 14 o"clock and 15 o"clock. It was November that the aircraft mishap occurred most frequently for 20 years. The purpose of this study is to determine the characteristics of mishaps and to provide basic data for further study of aircraft mishap prevention.
